Ruiru Sports Club will organize the Lady Captain’s Prize golf tournament on Saturday, featuring more than 200 competitors. The event, named after Veronica Mwaura, has drawn participation from national clubs and is backed by sponsors such as the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Forever Living, and Trident Insurance.
The tournament follows the recent Captain’s Prize, which took place over the weekend and honored Peter Mwaura’s re-election as golf club captain. That event attracted 280 players, with Patrick Miitii and Jane Mwaura as last weekend’s winners. They are expected to compete again at the par 72 course.
Veronica Mwaura, the outgoing Lady Captain, expressed confidence in the event’s success, citing improved course conditions and logistical preparations. Mary Muthoni, previously the Vice Lady Captain, will assume the leadership role at the Thika Road-based club. Over 30 prize categories are available for participants.
A 2016 image accompanies the event coverage, though the tournament itself is scheduled for 2019. The club encourages golfer engagement and feedback through its public outreach initiatives.
