The ride-hailing company Taxify has officially rebranded as Bolt, marking a strategic shift in its global operations. The transformation aligns with the firm's goal to adapt to evolving urban transportation demands.

Markus Villig, CEO and co-founder of Bolt, stated, "Taxify launched five years ago with a mission to make urban transportation more convenient and affordable. Our first product was a taxi dispatch solution that gave the company its original name." The rebranding follows reports of driver conduct issues in Kenya, where the platform faced criticism for inconsistent service quality.

The new brand will be introduced across Bolt's 30 operating markets without requiring user action, as app updates will occur automatically. Villig emphasized the name change reflects the company's focus on speed and innovation, noting, "We are bullish that the future is fully electric." The rebrand also enables Bolt to diversify beyond traditional taxi services, with plans to integrate electric scooters into its fleet.
