French President Emmanuel Macron will chair the opening of the One Planet Summit (OPS) in Nairobi on March 14, 2019, as part of the United Nations Environment Assembly (Unea-4) proceedings.
A Unea special envoy, Ado Lõhmus, confirmed the president's participation during a Nairobi press conference, stating the summit will unite global leaders to advance climate action through renewable energy initiatives and biodiversity conservation.
Co-chaired by Macron and Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, the high-level session will include heads of state, ministers, business representatives, and civil society actors committed to climate policy implementation.
The event will prioritize two key themes: expanding renewable energy adoption and strengthening ecological resilience and biodiversity protection mechanisms.
