DK Kwenye Beat appears in a repentance music video for Guardian Angel, marking his return to the music scene after a controversial sex scandal involving a 20-year-old Nakuru college student.
The singer and gospel artist Hopekid were implicated in a threesome that led to the student contracting a severe sexually transmitted infection, according to reports. Since the incident surfaced, DK has withdrawn from public view, deleting social media content and avoiding direct commentary.
During a recent interview with Mzazi Tuva of Mseto East Africa, DK acknowledged the scandal but provided minimal details. When asked about his well-being, he stated, "I'm doing well. God is our strength in all circumstances." He confirmed attending Glorious Chapel under Bishop Dan and Pastor Mike, where he claims to have received support from church leaders and family.
"They accepted me like their child and congregant. Family is family. They have been on my side," DK said.
Earlier, DK attempted to address the controversy through an apology video produced with Size 8, but the effort was undermined by a leaked audio clip in which he allegedly mocked the victim. The incident prompted Size 8 and DJ Mo to distance themselves from the singer and the scandal.
"I apologized not because of a mistake. As a public figure, I wanted to show the youth the importance of accountability," DK explained. "Saying sorry doesn't mean you're weak. Sometimes you fall, and it's the right thing to do."
When questioned about legal developments or resolution with the affected student, DK offered no comment. He redirected focus to his current project, stating, "The reason I'm here is because of Guardian Angel's video shoot. Let's focus on that."
