Sanjiv Shah, former RMA Motors CEO, has left his position as chief executive of Inchcape Kenya's Jaguar Land Rover operations seven months after being appointed.
Inchcape Kenya confirmed the departure in a statement, noting that Shah's role was tied to overseeing the transition of Jaguar Land Rover operations following the company's acquisition of the franchise from RMA Motors in 2013.
"Sanjiv agreed to stay on to support the transition," said Inchcape Kenya marketing manager Charity Mutunga, "but now that this phase has largely been concluded, he has chosen to pursue opportunities outside the group." The company declined to comment on whether the exit stemmed from internal decisions.
Shah's appointment in 2019 was seen as a strategic move to leverage his local market expertise, having previously led RMA Motors through its five-year tenure as JLR dealer. RMA exited the Kenyan market after acquiring the franchise from CMC Holdings in 2013.
Inchcape, which operates in 31 countries, now manages JLR's top-selling luxury vehicle portfolios in Kenya alongside brands like Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Audi, and BMW. The firm expanded to Kenya in 2019, becoming its second African market after Ethiopia.
