A JKUAT student sustained knife and bite wounds after being attacked and robbed while walking home with his girlfriend on Monday evening, according to reports. Shawn Kevin Mugendi, a third-year agriculture technology student, was assaulted in the Highpoint area along Thika Highway.
Attackers armed with knives demanded the victim and his companion surrender their phones and cash. When Mugendi resisted, he was stabbed and bitten. This incident follows a separate attack just weeks earlier in which a first-year JKUAT student was fatally stabbed in Gachororo village, Juja Constituency.
In that case, Tabitha was with a friend when two assailants demanded valuables. While her companion complied, Tabitha refused, leading to a violent confrontation. She was rushed to the university hospital but pronounced dead on arrival due to excessive bleeding.
University students have criticized authorities for inadequate safety measures, citing the recurring violence as a growing concern for campus security.
