Kanze Dena's first child, Natasha Anzanzi, died at three months old, an event that profoundly shaped her life and relationships.
The tragedy occurred when Dena left the infant with her mother to return to college. Natasha's sudden death, without a postmortem due to financial constraints, left Dena with a deep fear of handling newborns.
"It is my greatest fear handling a 0 to 3 month old baby," Dena stated in an interview, explaining how the trauma affected her ability to bond with her second child.
This fear strained her friendship with close friend Lulu Hassan. Dena revealed she distanced herself from Hassan's second child, causing unspoken tension between them.
"To date, me and her last born have never bonded as much as her first born. That is because I pulled out," Dena shared, describing how the experience left her emotionally fractured.
The loss also led Dena to question her faith, as she reflected, "I began questioning God why he had prevented me from giving up the baby for adoption only to take her away from me." Despite efforts to reconnect, the trauma continues to impact her relationships.
