Motorists in Nairobi and surrounding areas are advised to avoid nine specific routes on Sunday ahead of the Beyond Zero Half Marathon scheduled for March 10. The road closures coincide with the event's start at 6:30 am, affecting key thoroughfares including Mombasa Road, Kenyatta Avenue, and Waiyaki Way.
The restricted roads include:
- Mombasa Road
- Lusaka Road – Mombasa Road Junction to City Stadium
- Aerodrome Road
- Bunyala Road – Mombasa Road Junction to Unilever Kenya
- Haile Selassie Roundabout – August 7th Memorial Park
- Kenyatta Avenue
- University Way
- Waiyaki Way
- Museum Hill – Waiyaki Way Junction – Ojijo Road/Kipande Road junction
The event features multiple categories with staggered start times. The wheelchair/tricycle category begins at 6:30 am, followed by the 21km half marathon at 7:00 am. The 10km corporate race starts at 8:30 am, while the 5km family fun run and 2km pregnant walk commence at 9:00 am.
Elite participants in the 21km and 10km races will compete for prize money totaling Sh250,000 and Sh100,000 respectively. Over 20,000 runners are expected to gather at Nyayo National Stadium on Uhuru Highway, with the route traversing the Central Business District before returning via Kenyatta Avenue.
