Damaris Wambui Kamau, a Nakuru mother whose son gained national attention in 2014 for reciting a poem that amused President Uhuru Kenyatta, claims she has been targeted by unidentified individuals after declining a government-provided residence.
Kamau described an incident on March 5 when a group of men arrived at her Lanet home, using vehicle headlights to obscure their faces before demanding her presence. She stated she fled the scene, seeking refuge in a neighbor's house to avoid confrontation.
The single mother told Citizen Digital she has received anonymous phone calls warning her against discussing the rejected property. "I fear answering unknown numbers," she said, emphasizing her decision to abandon the house. "I’ve accepted it was given to another family and will not fight for it," she added.
Kamau alleged the threats originated from Nakuru county officials but no official response has been reported. She filed a police report but withheld details to prevent retaliation.
