The Sh5.6 billion Kimira-Oluch Smallholder Farm Improvement Project (Kosfip) in Homa Bay county is nearing completion, with construction expected to finish by June 2019, according to EAC PS Susan Koech.
Spanning 1,474 hectares across Rangwe and Karachuonyo constituencies, the initiative funded by the National Government and African Development Bank will benefit over 3,000 households. Koech confirmed 90% of major civil works are complete, leaving 10% of minor tasks to finish by June 30.
The project faced delays in 2017-2018 due to contractor strikes over unpaid wages. Koech stated the government resolved funding issues, ensuring contractors resume work to meet deadlines.
