Amazon.com Inc, Berkshire Hathaway Inc, and JPMorgan Chase & Co unveiled Haven, a healthcare venture focused on expanding primary care access, simplifying insurance benefits, and reducing prescription drug costs for their combined 1.2 million U.S. employees and family members.
The initiative, announced in January 2018, aims to develop scalable solutions that could be shared with external stakeholders, according to its website launched Wednesday. Haven’s website emphasizes collaboration with clinicians and insurers to enhance the broader healthcare system.
Haven CEO Atul Gawande, who assumed leadership in July, stated the company will implement changes incrementally before scaling up. The venture is headquartered in Boston with additional offices in New York.
The project initially caused market volatility in 2018, with health insurers like UnitedHealth Group Inc and Cigna Corp seeing stock declines amid concerns about potential disruption to traditional healthcare models.
