The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) sanctioned Green Commandoes after the club fielded suspended player Yusuf Mita during a National Super League (NSL) match against Kisumu All Stars on Sunday, resulting in a 2-1 victory for the opponents.
Kisumu All Stars lodged a formal complaint following the encounter at Bukhungu Stadium, citing Mita's ineligibility due to accumulating five consecutive yellow cards, which triggered a suspension under FKF regulations.
FKF confirmed that Mita received yellow cards in matches against Modern Coast Rangers, Kenya Police, Shabana, Eldoret Youth, and Bidco United, violating rule 7.5(b) of Kenyan football governance. The federation ruled that Green Commandoes forfeited the match, awarding Kisumu All Stars a 2-0 win with three points transferred to their tally.
A disciplinary letter to Green Commandoes' chairman stated, "Your player Yusuf Mita of License number FKF000467 was suspended and the same was communicated to your club by the FKF secretariat." The decision also noted that any cards issued during the match would be counted toward future sanctions.
The ruling elevated Kisumu All Stars to fourth place with 36 points, while Green Commandoes dropped to 19th with 10 points in the league standings.
