Tunisia's electoral commission has set parliamentary elections for October 6 and presidential polls for November 10, the third national vote since the 2011 revolution that overthrew dictator Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

The commission outlined procedures for the presidential race, stating a second round would occur within two weeks if no candidate secures an outright majority. The 2014 constitution mandates legislative elections within two months of parliament's term expiration, requiring polls between October and early December.

Despite being hailed as an Arab world democracy model, Tunisia faces persistent economic struggles, including 7.5% inflation and high youth unemployment. The UGTT trade union has led strikes over social reforms, while the Constitutional Court remains unformed, raising concerns among civil society groups.

The 2014 elections elected Beji Caid Essebsi as the country's first democratically chosen president, setting the stage for this year's voting cycle.
