Royal Air Maroc Halts Nairobi Flights Amid Strategic Reorganization

Morocco's national carrier Royal Air Maroc has ceased operations on its Nairobi route effective March 2, 2019, according to an official statement. The airline cited strategic realignment efforts to better align with evolving air travel trends identified through market analysis. Othman Baba, the airline's country manager for Kenya, emphasized the temporary nature of the suspension, stating, "We look forward to returning to the East African market in the fullness of time and in a more vibrant and assertive manner once our reorganization program is fully in place." The carrier expressed appreciation for its previous service, noting that passengers traveling through JKIA to Casablanca connected to 90 global destinations. The decision comes as regional airlines expand network coverage across Africa.
