Kenyan international defender David 'Cheche' Ochieng has indicated interest in a temporary return to the Kenyan Premier League to regain match fitness ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in June.
Ochieng, who previously played for AFC Leopards, Nairobi Stima, and Tusker, revealed he is seeking a short-term contract with a local club to maintain competitive sharpness. 'I want to sign a short-term deal to stay match-ready before returning to Europe in the summer,' he stated to Capital Sport.
The central defender left Swedish side IF Brommapojkarna in November 2017 after the club's relegation from the top flight. He has remained without a club since, noting the challenges of professional players without contracts.
Ochieng also played for Saudi Arabian club Al Tawoon earlier in his career. His potential return to Kenyan football comes as he aims to reassert his claim for a spot in the Harambee Stars squad for the upcoming international tournament.
