South African performer Zodwa Wabantu has defended her decision to appear without underwear at public events, stating that discussions about female sexuality should not be shrouded in stigma. The controversy emerged after explicit photographs of the socialite, known for her provocative performances, circulated online.
Wabantu told reporters, "It's time people had a conversation about sexuality. The #FreeTheVagina movement is about breaking free from the chains of outdated norms. Many of these rules were created by men or women influenced by patriarchal structures. There's nothing wrong with my body—it's not a taboo subject. If society stopped sexualizing it, we'd all be better off."
The images in question originated from a photoshoot conducted in a secure location as part of a campaign aimed at sparking dialogue about societal restrictions on women's bodies. Wabantu emphasized, "We have these bodies, and we should have the right to express ourselves without judgment."
