Kapseret Constituency MP Oscar Sudi has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of orchestrating a biased anti-corruption campaign targeting members of the Kalenjin community.
In a public letter shared on his Facebook page, Sudi claimed the administration selectively prosecutes individuals from specific ethnic groups while shielding others involved in similar alleged misconduct. He highlighted the cases of Ken Tarus, former Kenya Power managing director, and Joe Sang, former Kenya Pipeline chief, both from the Kalenjin community, who faced disciplinary action over corruption allegations.
Sudi alleged that officials from other communities who approved questionable deals remained unprosecuted. He specifically cited two instances where senior officials from the president's home region avoided charges despite involvement in questionable transactions.
The MP detailed four dam projects in Makueni, Kiambu, and Elgeiyo Marakwet regions where advance payments totaling 18.6 billion shillings were made without construction progress. He claimed these projects were singled out for scrutiny while similar initiatives in other areas received approval from the Kenya Forest Service.
"Your so-called fight against corruption is targeted at individuals and a community," Sudi wrote. "I respectfully ask you to be man enough and declare war openly on the people you consider your enemies instead hiding behind the facade of corruption theatrics." He concluded by labeling the administration's actions as "IMPUNITY."
