A Shanghai government official confirmed Tesla's electric vehicle assembly plant will finish construction by May 2019, with partial production lines operational by year-end, according to statements made during the annual parliamentary meeting in Beijing.

Chen Mingbo disclosed this during a session of the annual parliamentary meeting in Beijing, outlining the facility's development timeline.

The project, which began with a groundbreaking ceremony in January 2019, represents Tesla's first fully integrated manufacturing hub outside the United States.
