Safaricom revealed that cashless payment systems implemented in 43 counties have increased revenue collection by up to 30%, with 17 counties achieving full system integration, according to Rita Okuthe, Chief Enterprise Officer.
The digital platforms streamline citizen payments while improving financial oversight, enabling counties to better manage budgets and track expenditures, Okuthe explained. "In counties where we've deployed these systems, revenues have tripled," she added.
Full end-to-end integration has been achieved in Usain Gishu, Kiambu, Kajiado, Nairobi, Nyeri, Laikipia, Nakuru, Mombasa, Kwale, Vihiga, Kisumu, Taita Taveta, Kitui, Makueni, Kericho, Kilifi, and Nandi counties.
