As of 2019, Kenya's Export Processing Zones (EPZ) are on track to break records, with projected exports reaching KSh90 billion ($866 million) for the year.

This growth is largely attributed to the increased output from existing businesses, according to Benjamin Chesang, EPZ's manager for research, planning, and innovation.

Chesang also highlights the significant contribution of the European horticultural market and the United States' apparel industry in boosting Kenya's export figures.

Kenya's favorable trade relationship with the US, facilitated by the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), has enabled local manufacturers to access major American retailers such as JC Penny, Walmart, and Macy's.

Despite this progress, there remains untapped potential in Kenya's exports, particularly in the US apparel market, which is worth $83 billion (KSh8.6 trillion) annually.

According to Kenya's National AGOA Strategy and Action Plan for 2018-2023, the country only exported $340 million (KSh35 billion) to the US apparel market in 2016, highlighting the need for improved institutional capacity and awareness of the US market.

Kenya's government has taken steps to attract local and international investors, including offering tax holidays and simplifying registration procedures, which has created a favorable investment environment.
