Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo introduced the F11 and F11 Pro models in 2019, showcasing a pop-up front-facing camera system. The devices marked the latest iteration of Oppo's F-series, which maintained strong market presence in Kenya through high-end specifications and competitive pricing.
The F11 and F11 Pro shared core hardware, including a 6.53-inch display, 16MP front camera, and dual rear camera setup with a 48MP primary lens and 5MP depth sensor. Both models featured enhanced night photography and AI-powered camera functions, reflecting industry trends seen in competitors like Huawei.
A key distinction between the models was their front camera design: the standard F11 retained a teardrop-shaped notch, while the F11 Pro used an all-screen display with a motorized pop-up mechanism. Both devices operated on a 12nm MTK P70 chipset with storage options of 4GB RAM/64GB storage or 6GB RAM/128GB storage.
Oppo upgraded battery capacity to 4000mAh, supporting VOOC 3.0 fast-charging technology that could reach 100% charge in under 80 minutes. However, the devices retained micro USB 2.0 ports, a feature absent in newer budget smartphones from other manufacturers.
While no official Kenyan release date was announced in 2019, industry observers anticipated the phones would follow typical regional rollout patterns. Pricing was expected to remain below KES 40,000, maintaining the F-series' position as a premium yet accessible option in the local market.
