The strike follows longstanding tensions between KAWU and Kenya Airways management. The union alleges financial mismanagement, including excessive salaries for senior executives and consultants. These claims echo a February 2019 notice where KAWU opposed the airline's proposed control over airport operations, citing concerns over transparency and resource allocation.
