Ken Okoth, the late Kibra Member of Parliament, had expressed his desire to be cremated after his death, but his family is now divided over the issue.
Okoth passed away at the Nairobi Hospital on an unspecified date, after his family had taken him off life support as per his earlier request.
His mother, Angelina Ajwang, has warned against cremation, stating that she would boycott the funeral if her wish is denied.
It is worth noting that while it is not against the law to include burial plans in a will, it may not be legally binding.
According to Catherine Henry lawyers, any wishes regarding the disposal of one's body, as stated in a will or otherwise, are not binding and it is up to those left behind to decide.
However, an individual can write a final wish document, which may not be legally binding but serves as a statement of one's wishes and other information that one hopes their family will follow.
