A Bungoma high school teacher has been charged with assault leading to the death of a 16-year-old student in 2019, following an alleged incident involving an uncompleted assignment.
Crispinus Wabwile, a staff member at Bishop Adudo Boys School, appeared in court on Tuesday before Bungoma Senior Magistrate C.A. Mutai. The prosecution alleges that Wabwile physically assaulted the Form Two student on February 5, 2019, causing severe head injuries.
The victim was sent home by the school principal on the day of the incident and later admitted to Bungoma West Hospital in critical condition. He remained in the Intensive Care Unit for over two weeks before dying from his injuries on March 3, 2019.
The court granted seven days of custody for the accused to facilitate investigation completion, with the case set for a mention on March 13, 2019. Wabwile is currently detained at Bungoma Police Station.
