On July 31, 2019, Oppo, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, launched its latest addition to the Kenyan market, the Reno 10x Zoom.
The Reno 10x Zoom boasts a powerful camera that features up to 10x optical zoom, making it a significant upgrade from its predecessor.
According to Oppo, the Reno 10x Zoom is equipped with three camera lenses, including a 48MP primary lens, a 13MP telephoto lens, and an 8MP wide-angle lens, which combine to achieve a 10x hybrid zoom.
The phone also features a pop-up camera in the form of a shark fin, which automatically retracts back for safety whenever it senses the phone is on a fall.
Additionally, the Reno 10x Zoom has a 6th-generation Corning Gorilla Glass for durability, a beautiful enhanced feel and texture design, and comes in two shades: ocean green and jet black.
However, the phone falls behind its competitor, the Huawei P30 Pro, solely because it doesn't engage the telephoto camera when zooming, instead cropping on the image generated by the main camera.
The Reno 10x Zoom also features a 6.6-inch AMOLED capacitive screen, a fast optical fingerprint sensor, and a 4000mAh battery capacity with an endurance rating of 107 hours in battery life tests.
The phone is available for pre-order in Kenya, with a pre-order buyer getting a premium gift box worth Sh10,000.
