Five African start-ups have secured spots in MEST Africa's global pitch competition, advancing after winning regional finals held in February. The winners will compete for $50,000 in equity investment, incubator placement, and global mentorship at the MEST Africa Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, from June 10-12.
Regional champions include:
- Nigeria: AMPZ.TV, a sports-focused professional network aiming to develop elite athletes through technology
- Ghana: OZÉ, a data analytics firm enabling business growth through financial insights
- South Africa: Snode Technologies, which provides real-time cybersecurity solutions
- Kenya: WayaWaya, a fintech platform facilitating cross-border transactions
- Côte d'Ivoire: Seekewa, a crowdfunding platform supporting agricultural projects via digital vouchers
MEST Africa Managing Director Aaron Fu highlighted the winners' growth potential, noting the increasing number of scalable African ventures. The grand prize recipient will join last year's winner, Nigerian accounting platform Accounteer, which expanded to Kenya and secured additional funding.
