Pesapal has introduced a mobile application designed to streamline access to essential and leisure services, positioning itself as a direct competitor to established platforms like JamboPay and Cellulant.
The app consolidates payment solutions for daily needs including airtime purchases, bill settlements, travel bookings, and educational fees. Users can securely link Mpesa, Visa, and Mastercard accounts, with options to store card details or utilize Mpesa for free, seamless transactions.
"This app redefines convenience by aggregating Kenyans' everyday services and experiences," stated Pesapal CEO Mark Mwongela. "It extends beyond financial transactions to offer access to food, entertainment, and travel opportunities tailored to local lifestyles."
Key services include bill payments for telecom providers such as Jamii Telcom (Faiba), DStv, and GOtv, along with airtime purchases for Safaricom, Airtel, and Telkom. The platform also facilitates flight bookings with major airlines like Kenya Airways and regional carriers, as well as holiday packages to over 200 Kenyan hotels and international destinations.
Parents can manage school fee payments through partnerships with 12,000 educational institutions. The app also integrates food delivery services via Yum and event ticketing through Ticketsasa, with plans to expand to insurance and e-commerce partners.
"By creating a unified platform, we empower merchants to reach new customer segments without additional costs," Mwongela added. The initiative reflects Pesapal’s strategy to diversify its offerings in Kenya’s evolving digital payments landscape.
