On Saturday, a devastating fire swept through Mathare Slums, claiming the life of a two-year-old child.

According to eyewitnesses, the child was rescued from the burning house while still alive but succumbed to death at the hospital due to smoke inhalation.

"We tried to rescue her and rushed her to the hospital. Unfortunately, the doctors were unable to remove the smoke she had inhaled in her lungs," said a resident who witnessed the incident.
