The Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom Eastern region football finals will take place at Kitui Showgrounds on March 9-10, featuring eight youth teams vying for regional supremacy and a spot in the national finals scheduled for June in Meru County.
The competition, which began in January with 176 teams in preliminary rounds, will see Isiolo Young Stars face Embu's Triumph boys in the boys' semi-finals, while Mwingi's Super Solico takes on Moyale's Samba boys. In the girls' category, Meru Central's Karugwa Queens will challenge Meru South's Chuka Starlets, and Marsabit's Sakuu Queens will meet Makueni's St. Mary's Ndovea.
Defending champions Mwingi Junior Academy and Ngakaa Talent Center failed to advance, creating opportunities for new teams to emerge. Iddy Badi, the regional coordinator, noted the high level of competition, stating, "The matches have been very competitive all the way from the grassroots level. We have seen new and aggressive players and teams putting their talents into action and we hope some of them will form the all-star team that will train in Spain."
Winners will receive KES 200,000, with runners-up earning KES 100,000. Regional qualifiers from Western and Nyanza regions have already secured national final spots. The tournament will continue in Rift Valley, Coast, Central, North Eastern, and Nairobi regions, aiming to identify youth talent for national team development. A selected all-star team will participate in a Spain training camp featuring matches against local youth sides.
