Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka condemned factional members of the Jubilee Party for exploiting anti-corruption efforts for political gain, calling on Deputy President William Ruto to refrain from public criticism of investigative agencies until cases conclude.

Musyoka specifically addressed Ruto's recent assertions denying corruption in the Kimwarer and Arror dam projects, which allegedly resulted in billions in taxpayer losses. He emphasized that ongoing investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) should not be undermined by premature public declarations.

The opposition figure highlighted the financial anomaly surrounding an Italian construction firm that received Sh536 million upfront and Sh360 million for project commitment before collapsing under receivership. 'If Ruto's claims are accurate, Kenya should seek Italian government assistance to explain this financial mystery,' Musyoka stated.

The remarks came during a funeral attendance in Murang’a town, where Musyoka also defended President Uhuru Kenyatta's development record in the region against critics. He dismissed allegations of favoritism, asserting that infrastructure projects in Mt Kenya were executed with presidential approval.

The controversy coincided with Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich's interrogation at DCI headquarters over payments to firms linked to the dam scandal. Meanwhile, Ruto had previously accused Odinga of orchestrating media coverage implicating his allies in corruption, as tensions over the 2022 general election intensified.
