Kenyans have achieved a milestone in international music recognition after Sauti Sol secured a nomination for Nickelodeon's Kids Choice Awards. The group becomes the first Kenyan act to enter the running for the 'Favorite African Star' category, competing against Nigerian artist Adesua Etomi, IK Osakioduwa, and Ghana's StoneBwoy.

Sauti Sol member Bien Aime Barasa expressed pride in the achievement during an interview with Ghetto Radio. 'It's a great honor to be nominated, especially as the first Kenyans ever. We've always watched the awards on TV, and even if we don't win, this nomination is a significant milestone for our career,' he said.

The ceremony will take place at Los Angeles' Galen Center on March 23, 2019. Nigerian musician Davido is also nominated in the 'Favorite Global Star' category.
