Bahati Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri defended Deputy President William Ruto from corruption allegations on March 5, 2019, asserting the VP has no ties to the dam construction scandal. Ngunjiri criticized ODM lawmakers for linking Ruto to the controversy, calling it a political ploy to derail his 2022 presidential bid.
"Ruto is as clean as grade one cotton and has never stolen from anyone," Ngunjiri stated during an interview. He accused opposition figures of diverting attention from real corruption cases, adding, "The Treasury Cabinet Secretary has explained fund allocations for the dam project. Let's focus on recovering stolen money instead of targeting an innocent man."
The MP urged Ruto to ignore political attacks and concentrate on governance. The Kenyan DAILY POST, which has operated since 2012, reported the remarks.
