A 25-year-old Nigerian woman was detained at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) after concealing 77 suspected narcotics pellets in plastic bottles containing milk, according to a 2019 report. The suspect, identified as Princess Okoye, was intercepted by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives as she prepared to board a flight to Italy.
During surveillance, Okoye produced an additional 15 pellets, the DCI reported. She remains in custody while authorities investigate the case. The arrest occurred amid ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking through Kenyan transit hubs.
This incident follows a February 2019 operation at JKIA where detectives seized heroin valued at Sh1.5 million. The DCI has not yet confirmed the specific type of narcotics recovered in this instance.
