MP Oscar Sudi has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga of orchestrating a political maneuver to extend presidential tenure beyond 2022, citing their March 9, 2018, handshake as evidence of an alleged pact.
Sudi claimed the meeting signaled a coordinated effort to block Deputy President William Ruto from assuming power in 2022, alleging both leaders are leveraging anti-graft campaigns to undermine Ruto's ambitions. "We are tired and you will get what you are looking for soon. Ruto has his own people and they are not foolish," he stated.
The Kapseret MP criticized the war on graft, accusing the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) of targeting innocent individuals. "You have caused the sacking of so many innocent people and their cries will not go free. If you don’t want certain people just tell them to resign instead of faking graft charges," he said.
Sudi also accused Kenyatta and Odinga of hypocrisy, noting their shifting alliances. "When Ruto supported Raila he was not a thief, when he backed Uhuru he was not a thief, but now that his turn for the top seat has come you say he is a thief," he argued.
The remarks were made during a public address in Eldoret, where Sudi was joined by Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago. Mandago urged Kenyatta to remember his roots amid the alleged political machinations.
