Imagine a world where social media doesn't dictate your mood or dictate your day. A world where you can focus on real-life connections and experiences, rather than curated highlight reels.

According to Google, Kenyans check their phones approximately 150 times a day. That's a lot of time spent scrolling through social media, comparing our lives to others, and feeling inadequate. But what if we told you there's a way to break this cycle and take back control of your time?

Enter the concept of digital detox. It's simple: switch off your phone or keep it away from yourself for certain periods of time. You could do this for an entire day, once a week, or even just 2-3 hours a day. The key is to find a balance that works for you.

So, does it work? We put it to the test. By logging off Instagram for a week, we noticed a significant decrease in feelings of negativity and a increase in productivity. We no longer felt the need to constantly check our notifications or compare our lives to others.

Of course, it's not just about us. Social media can have a profound impact on our mental health and well-being. A study by Kenyan firm Nendo found that consuming stories takes up a sizeable chunk of our data bundles and is gaining popularity. But what about the impact on our relationships and our sense of self-worth?

By taking a digital detox, we can start to break free from the cycle of comparison and negativity. We can focus on real-life connections and experiences, rather than curated highlight reels. And who knows, we might just find that we're happier and more fulfilled as a result.
