The trial of former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and eight others was postponed on March 4, 2019, after defense attorneys argued the charge sheet failed to meet legal standards, alleging it lacked specific offense details.

Kidero, facing graft and abuse of office charges, had his lawyer James Orengo contend that one count referenced an alleged crime not recognized under Kenyan law. Orengo emphasized the charge sheet's failure to disclose actionable offenses.

The case includes former officials from Kidero's administration, such as former County Secretary Lilian Ndegwa, Chief Finance Officer Jimmy Mutuku Kiamba, and former Minister Gregory Mwakanongo, alongside business representatives from Lodwar Wholesalers Ltd and Ngurumani Traders Ltd.

Prosecutors allege the group conspired to commit fraud, resulting in a Sh213,327,300 loss to Nairobi County between January 16, 2014, and January 25, 2016.
