Citizen TV journalists reported a theft of equipment and cash during the 6th Devolution Conference in Kirinyaga County on March 4, 2019. Stephen Letoo, a political reporter with Royal Media Services, confirmed the incident via social media.
Letoo's tweet detailed the loss of cash, MacBook laptops, a PXW camera, Citizen TV-branded microphones, bags, cables, and hard drives. The stolen items also included equipment for Inoooro TV, according to the report.
The robbery occurred when assailants smashed the window of a double-cabin vehicle belonging to Royal Media Services. The crew was dining at Kutus at the time, police confirmed. A formal report has been filed, with investigators reviewing surveillance footage and witness accounts.
The five-day devolution conference, which began on March 4, features participation from national and county government representatives as well as stakeholders from Kenya's 47 counties.
