The Ebola treatment center in Butembo, North Kivu, resumed operations after gunmen attacked it last week, according to health ministry officials.
The facility, which had been managed jointly with Doctors Without Borders (MSF), now operates under a new partnership involving the World Health Organization (WHO) and Unicef, the ministry confirmed.
Repairs are scheduled to begin at a second North Kivu center in Katwa, which was destroyed in a fire on February 24. Both sites had previously been under MSF coordination before the attacks.
The outbreak, first detected in August, has infected 894 people and killed 561 in North Kivu and Ituri provinces. Security challenges in the region have complicated containment efforts, with armed groups active in the area.
