Chris Kirubi, a prominent Kenyan business leader, unveiled a collaboration with the National Youth Service (NYS) on Monday to provide internship opportunities for young people through his Centum Investment Group.
The initiative, disclosed via a Centum Investment Group tweet, aims to equip participants with practical skills and job readiness while aligning with Kenya's Big 4 Agenda. The partnership will focus on developing youth capabilities to drive national economic growth.
Kirubi emphasized that empowering youth is crucial for national development, stating, "We cannot move forward without the youth. They are the drivers and innovators of tomorrow's economy." He highlighted the importance of practical skills over formal credentials, noting, "You might not have the degrees but the skills you own is more than enough to secure a better nation."
The program will involve tracking trained youth and leveraging their expertise to address local workforce needs. Kirubi expressed confidence in the public-private partnership model, asserting it would generate more employment opportunities across the country.
