Funeral arrangements for the late Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso have been announced, with the burial set to take place at her matrimonial home in Kandege village, Muhoroni, on Saturday.

According to Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter, who spoke on behalf of the team organizing the burial, the governor's body will be flown to Bomet Stadium for viewing on Friday afternoon before being transported to Fort Tenan for burial on Saturday at 3pm.

Residents of Kandege village have described Dr. Laboso and her husband Edwin Abonyo as their good neighbors, who were known for their generosity and contributions to village activities.

A flurry of activity was witnessed at the Laboso's compound, with at least 20 young men renovating the main house and pavements in preparation for the burial.

However, access to the compound was restricted, with the home manager, Mr. Kosgei, instructing journalists to leave the premises.

Residents expressed relief that the governor would be brought back home to be buried, with one villager stating, 'When word started going round that she may be buried in Bomet, we were worried because we have always known this as her home.'

Laboso died on Monday after a long battle with cancer.
