Two police officers were killed and 10 passengers injured when a tuk tuk collided with a matatu on the Likoni-Lunga Lunga highway in Kwale. The incident occurred at 8:45am, according to Matuga OCPD Joel Chesire.
The tuk tuk was carrying the two officers, who were en route to a roadblock on Magandia when the crash happened. The matatu was traveling from Likoni to Lunga Lunga at the time of the accident.
Chesire confirmed the officers died at the scene and their bodies were transported to Coast General Hospital mortuary. The tuk tuk driver sustained serious injuries, he added.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the collision, which remains under investigation. No further details about the vehicles or contributing factors were immediately released.
