President Uhuru Kenyatta abruptly left a burial ceremony in Murang’a County after Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro began addressing the crowd, according to reports. The incident occurred as Nyoro, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, requested Ksh5 million in funding for Gitui Secondary School.
The president later confronted Nyoro, referencing unspent National Government Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocations. "Some people ask for money. Account for the Ksh100 million allocated to your constituency instead of holding endless meetings," Kenyatta reportedly said.
This follows a 2018 incident where Kenyatta left a requiem mass for Kenneth Matiba after Nyoro made similar remarks. The timing of the two events remains unexplained, with no official clarification on whether they were coincidental or deliberate.
Nyoro, known for his advocacy of Ruto’s policies, shifted his road improvement request to the deputy president after Kenyatta exited the ceremony. The episode highlights tensions over local development funding and political dynamics within the ruling coalition.
