More than 500 private equity executives will gather in Nairobi next month to discuss investment trends across Africa, with Kenya's business environment highlighted as a key draw. The Pan-African industry association's annual conference will feature over 90 speakers, including government officials, global financial institutions, and regional investment leaders.
The event, hosted by AVCA and opening with a keynote from Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, will include panel discussions, investor spotlights, and roundtable sessions. Attendees will analyze developments affecting industries across the continent, with a focus on East Africa's growing economic influence.
Key participants include Erik Bethel of the World Bank, Paul Kavuma from Catalyst Principal Partners, George Odo of AfricInvest East Africa, and James Mworia of Centum Investments. The conference will also feature representatives from CDC Group, DLA Piper, and Verod Capital, among others.
Kenya's ranking as the third-best performer in sub-Saharan Africa for business ease in 2018 underscores its appeal. The country accounts for the region's largest share of private equity investments and is considered the second-most attractive destination for investors, according to AVCA surveys.
