Nyeri Senior Magistrate Pauline Omungala remains under investigation for her alleged role in the 2019 murder of her husband, lawyer Robert Chesang, who was shot dead in February 2019. A retired senior police officer has also been arrested in connection with the case.

Chesang was killed when unidentified individuals entered his residence in Moke Estate, Lukenya, and fired seven bullets at him. The victim had been staying in a hotel for months after being evicted by his wife. He moved back into the house only after Omungala was transferred to Nyeri in December 2018.

The case has drawn public attention due to the high-profile nature of the accused. No formal charges have been filed, but investigators are examining allegations that Omungala orchestrated the attack. No official statement has been released from her legal team or the court handling the matter.
