Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has issued a direct challenge to Deputy President William Ruto, vowing that no political figure will be protected from anti-corruption efforts. The Jubilee Party legislator accused Ruto's Tanga Tanga movement of undermining state institutions, stating Kenyans would disregard what he called 'raw propaganda' from the opposition leader.
Wambugu specifically targeted Ruto's alleged 'attack dog' Sudi, accusing the former of seeking political gain through divisive rhetoric. He reiterated that the government's anti-graft campaign would proceed without political interference, citing constitutional mandates for the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Amid the political tensions, revelations about potential financial losses in two major infrastructure projects have intensified scrutiny. Reports indicated up to 21 billion shillings may have been lost in the Arror and Kimwarer dam developments, a claim disputed by Ruto who reduced the figure to 7 billion shillings. ODM leader Raila Odinga rejected Ruto's revision as insufficient, highlighting ongoing debates over accountability in public spending.
