Pokot South MP David Pkosing accused Kenya's political dynasties of orchestrating a coordinated effort to obstruct Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential ambitions, citing a 2019 meeting between ODM leader Raila Odinga and KANU Chairman Gideon Moi as the catalyst for corruption allegations against the Kimwarer Dam project.
The lawmaker claimed the discussion about the dam's controversies originated during a hotel meeting between Odinga and Moi, urging the National Intelligence Service to investigate their encounter. 'The conversation about Kimwarer began at that meeting,' Pkosing stated, suggesting the allegations were politically motivated to weaken Ruto's campaign.
He framed the 2022 election as a conflict between entrenched elites and grassroots candidates, asserting that 'dynasties and the wealthy don't want a peasant's son to become president.' Pkosing also accused authorities of targeting Rift Valley communities through selective enforcement of corruption charges, emphasizing that 'the issue isn't corruption itself, but the 2022 political dynamics.'
