A suspect in a domestic violence case was apprehended in Mukaa Sub-county after a month on the run, with authorities crediting technological tools for locating him at a hidden residence.
James Mwendo Mawewu is currently held at Sultan Hamud Police Station and faces court proceedings on Monday. The arrest followed a month-long manhunt after he allegedly assaulted his spouse.
County Commissioner Maalim Mohammed revealed to KNA that police utilized advanced technology to identify the suspect's hideout. 'Modern tools enabled us to trace the individual who had evaded capture for weeks,' he stated.
Mohammed emphasized strict enforcement against gender-based violence, declaring that perpetrators of assault, rape, or child exploitation would face legal consequences. 'Our constitution guarantees protection for all citizens, and those violating this will be prosecuted,' he added.
The official urged communities to resolve conflicts through dialogue rather than violence, stating, 'We must eradicate practices that harm individuals, using reason instead of force to address disputes.'
