Police have detained Senior Resident Magistrate Maisy Chesang for nine days to facilitate further investigation into the murder of her husband, lawyer Robert Chesang, a case that dates back to 2019.
The Nyeri-based magistrate was arraigned at Mavoko Law Courts on Monday alongside three other suspects as authorities continue probing the killing of the city lawyer, who was shot during a daylight raid on his Moke Gardens residence in February 2019.
Sergeant Richard Lorunyei Moru of Riruta Police Station and Peter Mbithi, attached to Mutuine Post, were also charged in connection with the case. Retired officer Lawrence Lempesi, arrested in Baragoi, Samburu County, is alleged to have acted as an intermediary between Chesang's wife and his killers.
