Huawei is preparing to initiate legal action against the U.S. government in the Eastern District of Texas, according to a report by the New York Times, which cited sources familiar with the matter. The lawsuit would challenge a federal ban on the use of Huawei products by government agencies.
The legal action is expected to argue that the ban constitutes a "bill of attainder," a legislative measure that targets specific entities for punishment without due process, as reported by the New York Times.
Separately, Huawei’s legal team filed a lawsuit against the Canadian government, its border agency, and federal police, alleging that Meng Wanzhou was detained, searched, and interrogated for three hours in violation of her constitutional rights. This follows her arrest in Vancouver on December 1 at the request of the U.S., which has accused her and Huawei of violating sanctions against Iran through bank and wire fraud charges.
Huawei has not commented on the report, according to the New York Times.
