Patrick Miitii secured the 2019 Ruiru Sports Club Captains Prize with 44 Stableford points, outpacing over 270 competitors in the tournament. The golfer recorded two birdies on the 13th par-3 and 5th par-4 holes, while maintaining par on four occasions to claim victory.
"It was an excellent day playing at the Captains Prize Golf Tournament," Miitii said. "The course was in great condition, and I enjoyed the shorter holes. I'm pleased to have come out as the overall winner."
The event featured sponsorships from MultiChoice Kenya, Oxygène MCL, and Crown Paints. Ruiru Sports Club captain Jane Mwaura, who has led the club since 2018, highlighted the tournament's success, noting a strong turnout from dawn until the final holes.
Mwaura emphasized the club's commitment to golf development, stating, "We look forward to hosting more events this year to continuously grow the game in Kenya."
Jane Mwaura, the women's champion, earned 42 Stableford points with 22 on the front nine and 20 on the back nine. This marked her fifth year playing golf, during which she reduced her handicap to 24. "It's a pleasure playing at my home club and an honor to win," she said.
Oxygène MCL Partner Mutahi Mureithi praised the club's organization, stating, "This year’s event was a huge success. We thank the captain and his team for a job well done."
Winners received DSTV Kits including a DSTV Explora with a one-month subscription. MultiChoice Kenya Communications Manager Philip Wahome noted, "Today’s winners will get unrivaled entertainment with our high-end DSTV Explora."
